Making your Brand Label

There's more to a good label than meets the eye; here are few notes to keep in mind.

Impact
A label is a calling card, a sales pitch, and a promise, so design labels that are not only attractive, but also command attention and admiration, and speak well of your brand. You can look at other products for design inspiration, but make sure yours still stand out.

Mandates
DOST's TaƱafranca stresses the need to adhere to mandated label standards. For instance, in declaring the net weight of your
product, use "g" instead of "grams" or "gms." All ingredients (including the "secret" ones) have to be listed from the highest content to the lowest. If you plan to export your product, do your research: the United States requires the inclusion of nutrition information, and dual-languages countries like Canada expect to see your labels in both English and French.

Budget
A full-color label with photography and fancy printing effects is nice to have, but expect this to cost you. You can still have a high-impact design with only two or three colors. An experienced graphic designer can help you achieve this.
