Hankering or craving for the New

"Newism" is not in Webster (the dictionary), but it might as well be based on Trendwatching.com's take on the trend.
The trend watcher says for new established brands. "newism" boils down to capturing and holding consumers' attention. "Newism is creative destruction, hyper-competition, globalism, consumerism on steroids and a celebration of innovation, all in one," it says.
"The 'new' has never been better hotter, as the entire world, from emerging to mature economies, is now creating new products, services and experiences on a daily, if not hourly basis, in every B2C (business to consumer) industry," says Trendwatching.com.

It says that "newism" is not just traditional product innovation. "The new and improved' from yesteryear has been surpassed by a genuinely innovative and creative explosion, taking place worldwide," it adds.
But the new doesn't always kill the old, Trendwatching.com says. There will be always be value in heritage brands, but businesses will have to make sure they always have the attention of consumers.
